absence makes the heart grow fonder...

thinking about one single impression's prompt for this week, my mind kept wandering to this summer's phone conversations D. & i shared when we were pressed for time & time zones with an ocean & a continent between us. as i traveled more & more eastward, i kept glancing over my shoulder in his direction, wondering, imagining, remembering, anticipating. with text messages at 50 cents (USD) a pop & phone calls 3-6X that per minute, we had to fit a lot of love in a very short space! & it was sweet!

the previous summer just after travel apart, i penned a poem with thoughts of the time & space between us. i found myself looking westward over the sea, imagining us sharing the sun or the moon in that moment...

{untitled...romance}

between the places
where sea touches sky
a breath escapes
shared by you & ithank you, geraldine, for the lovely prompt! please visit more poetic offerings at OSI.

I love this post! My DH and I also shared a 4 year/across the ocean romance...ten pence pieces for the phone box became my most treasured possession, but they didn't go far! We still have all the letters....!

We defied the odds, against his parents wishes, and twenty years later, we're still here. The ocean is still or favourite place!

Am happy to be back reading you!

A neat poem, Ms. diBello. Why don't you try staying put next summer?
That wasn't real serious, I was glad your author could find a hard to reach place to share with his/her 'you.' That space is almost infinite so how do you ever find each other? :-)

This is truly romantic ... I love between the places and the spaces ...I use to travel, but only in the States, and although it was exciting, it was lonely too.

Loved the intro as much as I did the poem.

Your poem and post are lovely and so romantic. I know this feeling. There was a time when I was in NZ and he was in Oz. I remember looking in his direction, sharing the same moon, sky and ocean. It was just as you share. Thank you for inspiring sweet memories.

It is in the spaces that life is lived and love finds its voice. Such a delicate fragrance in these words.
